Question by Laurence L: Where can I find info on getting started investing in rental properties?
Mu husband and I want to buy a rental properties to get started in this business. I have read a few books. Where else can I find resources to learn more?

PS: do not point me to these real estate “gurus” sites, please.

Try talking to a loan officer or a Broker of a realtors firm. If one of you beome a Realtor you can get on the BLM list and find cheap houses (before the public views) and you can buy them quick. I think if you just get a realtors lic. it would be so much easier for you to get what you want.

It does make a difference that you live in Canada only because you need to find a local investor network or an investor group in the states that are allowed to do business in Canada. Go to the search enginge chacha.com and type in real estate investors. This is a great place to start.

Question by Alyas: How did you find a place to ride?
I put an ad on craigslist, too, to see if any other horse enthusiasts knew of any arenas I was missing. Several responses, and there isn’t much out there. Here’s the options in this town:
*Apparently, we only have THREE BOARDING STABLES. 2 of which have arenas. and one of which rents it out if you have all your paperwork in order for $ $ $ .
*a stockyard type arena–also $ $ $ , really a mess right now with the weather.
*a fancy riding club arena out in an equestrian neighborhood. Very hard to get ahold of, but they do have a indoor arena you can rent for 30 an hour.
*An arena exlusive to the sherriff’s posse.
*An arena in a neighborhood, locked and homeowners ONLY have the key

I was out driving around being a looky-lou, and saw another arena today, that hadn’t been mentioned. Small neighborhood, down the road actually from where one of my old 4-H leaders lived. The arena is ALL cinders, and about 100 yrds from a house. I drove in the driveway being nosey. The arena wasn’t locked at all “RIDE AT YOUR OWN RISK” it said at the gate. Would that possibly indicate it’s public? There was a trailer with a “FOR RENT” sign several yards way. Would it be really awkward to call the number on the sign and see what they know about the arena out their back door of their rental property? I feel so nosey.
How did you find a place to ride? Any tips? How did you find an arena to ride in? Also what do you think of working in cinders? My girl is barefoot.

I googled “Horseback riding in _______(my area)”
I live on Long Island, so there are A LOT around.
I think you should call the number, you never know!
